DENTAL COSTS UK 2026
The cost of dental treatment depends on whether you receive NHS or private dental care. In England, NHS dental treatment is divided into three main charge bands. The amount you pay depends on the treatment required rather than the number of appointments needed to complete the course of treatment.
From 1 April 2026, the NHS dental charges in England are:
- Band 1: £27.90 – includes an examination, diagnosis, advice, X-rays where clinically necessary and some preventative treatment.
- Band 2: £76.60 – includes everything in Band 1 plus treatments such as fillings, root canal treatment and extractions.
- Band 3: £332.10 – includes everything in Bands 1 and 2 plus more complex treatments such as crowns, dentures and bridges.
You can check the latest charges and what each band covers on the NHS dental treatment costs page.
Cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening and most veneers are not normally available through the NHS and are usually provided privately.
